Xbox slim worse connection then elite?

-my old elite used to get 3-4 bars per online game then i got some money and upgraded to the slim so the morning i was playing cod with 4 bars later i got the slim hooked it all up started playing and it randomly jumps to different bars 1-3 it starts off at 2 then after about 5 minutes of being on it stays on nonstop 1 bar ive tried doing everything i can with the router ive tried wired and wireless all ends up with the same thing and i can hop on the computer and the internets fine but then i shut get on xbox and same thing any ideas?I used to have and still have that problem. I figured out that it isn't the xbox it was where I put it. I moved it around in my room and in other rooms and i now have golden connection.
